FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to children ages 4-16* through fun, exciting hands-on learning. FIRST LEGO League participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together. In FIRST LEGO League, students engage in hands-on STEM experiences, building confidence, growing their knowledge and developing habits of learning. FIRST LEGO League’s three divisions inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.

MCH Robotics Week!,
Sulafa Talha and Marc Cobb
We gathered students, who were guided through wonderful robotics lessons by Sulafa Talha, a parent at the school. We worked on a Musical project, programmed the robot to sing the musical notes of the birthday song. Some students went further, programming the robot to move while singing a song. We did a robot race, the faster you clap your hands the faster your robot will go by activating the sound sensor. We used block programming as an educational programming language to learn programming basics. For example, parameters and loops . We also used the Ed mat, which is a smart robotics mat with barcodes to activate the robot to do different tasks, like sumo wrestling and avoiding obstacles. Students also learned the robot's parts and what each button does. They also learned how to set up the robot for work, for example, connect the robot to a computer using the edcom cable and how to download the program to the robot using the record button. Students then got the chance to explore and program their robots, some of the projects they did: -the jingle bell song -increasing the robot speed -exploring the infrared messaging between two robots -controlling the way the robot's lights flashing -multiple tasks in a row, like go forward till an obstacle is found then stop peep flash and drive backward.
